We found out at our 38th week appt that we were being induced on Friday, November 26th. Our doctor was on call Thanksgiving weekend so she thought that was as good a day as any. We had a great thanksgiving with Papa T, Tootsie, Todd, Josh and Ginger and then woke up early on Friday to head to the hospital. We got there at 7 am and were hooked up to the Pitocin by 8. We were hooked up to a heartrate monitor for Logan and a contraction monitor for me. I guess they were watching the strength of the contractions at the nurses station cause every 15-30 minutes they would come and up the dosage. We started the day only dilated about 2 cm so we had a long ways to go. At about 9:30, my doctor came in and broke my water. There wasn't a lot of fluid, but she was pretty sure she had gotten it because she said that she could feel hair!! That was our first indication of what was to come!
The contractions definitely got more intense after that and I got the heavenly epidural around 11:30am. All the pain (and feeling from the waist down) went away and I was able to get a little rest. We had a scare around 5pm when Logan's heart rate dropped suddenly. The nurses rushed into the room and put me on oxygen. An internal heart rate monitor was placed on Logan's head and her heart rate quickly came back up. They determined that the reason this occurred was that Logan had gotten much closer to birth in a really short amount of time. They told us that we were at 9.5 cm and about to start pushing. We quickly texted Trey's parents and Todd to let them know that it was time for them to head up to the hospital.
All of the delivery team left the room for about 20 minutes to give us just a little more time for Logan to rest and for me to dilate that last little bit. At 10 minutes to 6, my nurses came back in and we started pushing. They had turned the pitocin off when Logan was in distress and my contractions were now pretty far apart. They brought me back on the pitocin to speed up the contractions and we pushed regularly for the next hour.
Logan Paisley made her amazing appearance at 7:03 pm on Novermber 26th, 2010. She weighed 6lbs, 12 oz and was 19.5 inches long. She started crying right away which was a good sign because we knew she had some meconium present in the amniotic fluid. Our tiny peanut was deemed officially perfect and Trey went out the the waiting room to let his family know she had arrived.
We got moved into a post partum room, which was pretty nice as far as hospital rooms go, and Logan met Papa T, Tootsie, Uncle Todd, Josh and Ginger for the first time. We stayed in the hospital for another day and a half and Logan also was visited buy Uncle Troy and Aunt Jenn. She's had about 3000 pictures taken of her so far, with no signs of that slowing down!
On Sunday, we got discharged from the hospital and got to head home. All of us are doing well, including mommy- I'm feeling surprisingly good! Logan's been doing great and we're trying to get some sort of schedule established. Tootsie has been staying with us this week and helping out. Daddy went to work for a little while yesterday after we visited with the Pediatrician. He really hated leaving us and rushed home as soon as he finished with his patients.
We're staying put at the house for a while but are welcoming all healthy, germ free visitors!! Give us a call if you want to stop by!

38 weeks and almost there!
Grandpa Dan pointed out that I've been lax on my blogging. He's right- time is just flying by!
Since the last post, we had an awesome baby shower in Austin at the Hoppe house. We are completely set as far as things we really need for Logan's arrival! I had a fabulous weekend with my mom, Tiff, Erica and Donna. We organized the nursery and hung up all Logan's adorable clothes. My office threw me a surprise shower on October 28th. It was completely unexpected and really sweet.
On November 2nd, our growth update showed Logan at 5 lbs, 14 oz. We went to the perinatologist on November 3rd and got the green light that things were still progressing really well and that he didn't see any forseeable issues. He did recommend a certain type of ultrasound once a week until she arrives, and that we not deliver past her due date.
The concern with a late delivery and a single umbilical artery is that the baby would get too big, and when cramped for space, kink her umbilical cord. If this happens, obviously the blood flow would be reduced in any baby, but our blood flow is already reduced so we really don't want this to happen. He's recommended that if I don't go into labor naturally before then, that we induce sometime in the 39th week.
And that is right around the corner!!
I've got patients scheduled until the 24th so we're trying to make it at least to that date but it's all up to Logan right now! The good news is that I didn't go into labor while Trey was on his hunting trip to Colorado! We're keeping all holiday plans up in the air pending this little one's arrival.
Since we'll be welcoming visitors after she comes home, I just wanted to take this time to ask y'all to please only visit with no sniffles, coughs, germs, etc. Don't forget that newborns have super new immune systems that can't fight off things yet. Please be patient with my psycho new-mommy requests to use hand sanitizer or to wash your hands!!
Next post will be post-baby!!

33 weeks pregnant
Went for our latest check on Friday and no new news...
Baby is growing well but we're back on the "Niki's uterus is too small" game. My uterus actually measured 1 cm SMALLER than it did 2 weeks ago...wierd, I know!
We go for another growth sonogram on November 2nd and will also start going every week after that. Not really feeling any contractions yet but am VERY swollen in my hands and feet and now am getting super uncomfortable to the point of insomnia. But with 6 weeks to go, I guess that's pretty much par for the course!
Our shower is this weekend in Austin and I'm so excited to have my mom, Donna, Erica and Tiff coming in to spend some time with big, round Niki! Trey is in man-nesting mode and has decided to complete every project that we've been dreaming about since we moved into our house before Logan arrives!
Next update will probably have some pictures of the shower posted and will be in about another 2 weeks.

32 weeks- 8 mos pregnant!
Not many updates right now! Wish we had a picture to post from our ultrasound yesterday. Little Logan is camera shy and had her arms and legs in front of her face! Trey was so disappointed! He moved his whole schedule around so he could come to the appointment. He was just dying to get a peek of his little girl!
The nursery is really coming along. We got the glider all set up and are hanging curtains this week.
Our first shower was in Bridge City last weekend and it was awesome! I really had a great time and enjoyed it so thanks to everyone who attended and helped plan it.
I'm still feeling good- have some heartburn and big swollen feet, but not too much to complain about. Papa T was sweet to me this weekend and set me up with a big tub of ice water to soak my feet in, which helped a lot!
I also got to spend some time with our gorgeous niece, Ella, who is so much fun and SO smart! It got me really excited about our own little girl on the way!
We go to the doctor every two weeks now and are about to be home-bound after this weekend. Next update, 2 weeks!

27 weeks and counting
We went to the doctor today for our monthly checkup. She let us know that next visit will be the last of the monthly visits. After October 1st, we start going every two weeks. First up today was the glucose test for gestational diabetes. They do it standard on everyone now and we should get our results in about a week. We then went over to have a sonogram to monitor logan's growth. She is doing awesome! 2 lbs, 9 oz as of today and is in the 67th percentile for growth. The single umbilical artery doesn't seem to have affected her at all at this time. I also got my belly measured again which is how the check for uterine growth. We don't seem to have any problems in that dept either!!!
Trey has been hard at work in the nursery for about two weeks now. He's painted the walls and put up wainscoting and crown moulding and last night he put together the crib and put the legs on the dresser and moved them into the room. Our glider won't be ready for at least another month or two so the nursery really won't be done until she gets here.
Tried to get some good photos to post but Logan kept putting her hands and feet in front of her face!!! It looked like she was trying to make a 'hook 'Em' sign.

6 Months!
As of last thursday, we are 24 weeks pregnant! Went to the doctor on Friday and everything was pretty much great! She measured my belly and said it was measuring on the smaller side, which was suprising to me! First of all, I am feeling huge! And second, every time they measure Logan with a sonogram they always say she is measuring big. Since we had an ultrasound the first week of August, they didn't want to wait another 4 weeks to measure her, so we go back in three. I'll also have my Gestational Diabetes test at that visit. No pictures from this visit.
With some extra prodding by our shower invitation designers, we finally registered on Saturday. So far, we just registered at Babies R Us. It seems like we can get everything we could possibly need there...and then some!

Fetal Echo
Most of you don't know that I was diagnosed with a single umbilical artery at our last appointment. Most umbilical cords have 2 arteries and 1 vein, but mine only has one of each. This can lead to some scary stuff- mostly having to do with Logan's development. I was referred to a neonatologist for an echocardiogram of Logan's heart.
We saw the neonatologist today and everything was looking phenomenal! Logan is growing at not only a normal pace, but growing really quickly! She weighed in at 1lb, 4 oz today and they could not find ANY developmental issues with any of her organs, especially her heart.
The sonogram they did was extremely thorough and took about 45 minutes. They confirmed, once again, that there are NO boy parts hiding anywhere and that they don't have doubts that we have a little girl coming our way!
We will get regular sonograms to monitor her growth but that is the only recommendation that we were given and I was released from the care of the neonatologist back to my regular OBGYN which is a great sign!
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

It's a girl!!
Went to the doctor yesterday and found out that we'll be expecting a little girl this winter! We both found out that each of us was secretly hoping for one of the sexes. Trey for a boy and me for a girl! But we're both thrilled knowing that she looks perfectly healthy! Here's our first 3D image of our baby. She was dancing around so much that it was hard to get a still photo of her! This was the only one that didn't have her face all smushed up against the placenta. We go back in another month and will be getting routine ultrasounds. Apparently, they can just switch routine ultrasounds over to 3D with the flip of a button these days. It's pretty cool but a little freaky to see! Still haven't taken any photos of the belly but know that I need to. Little girl is measuring a few days larger than her due date and weighs 13 oz now instead of the 10 oz that she is supposed to. Who would have thought Trey and I could produce a larger than average child!!?? Based on her size, there's a chance we might be meeting her sooner than December!

17 weeks and counting
Went to the Dr. on Friday, the 25th and had a quick check up. They did a Doppler to listen for the heartbeat, which was nice and strong at 155bpm. My OB confirmed that little Pistache did in fact survive the trip to Mexico! It's still up in the air whether or not Trey did! We are counting down the minutes until July 16th when we find out the sex of this little munchkin. Jill gave me a justifiable hard time this past weekend when she said I wasn't posting enough on the blog! I'm really only putting the relevent baby stuff. And since it's been such an easy pregnancy so far, there hasn't been a lot to write!
Recently, I'm pretty sure that I've started to feel the baby move. Sometimes at night I feel like someone is doing jazz hands in my belly and can't imagine that that feeling is anything but the baby. Everyone that has seen me in the past 2 weeks has confirmed that the pregnancy belly is definitely there. I know Jess Martin wants me to post some pics of the belly but I'm just not ready for the tummy to go viral!
I had a photo shoot a few weeks back to create a headshot to use professionally. I really rushed that session since I didn't want the pictures taken after I "looked pregnant" in my face! You should be able to see me really soon on our website. Check it out at www.lindseyhoppe.com
Just over 2 weeks until the BIG NEWS POST!!

12 weeks!
May 23rd, 2010
Had our third sonogram on friday. Everything looked great! Heartbeat was 164- still really good and strong. As you can see by the pictures to the left, it's really starting to LOOK like a baby! The baby is about the size of a large plum right now so it's getting pretty big.
We got the mommy-mobile last friday, the 14th. We ended up with a used 2009 black Tahoe. It's enormous compared to what I'm used to driving! Good thing I have 6 more months to get used to it before baby gets here. Our next visit was supposed to be in 4 weeks but we'll be in Mexico for what I'm calling the Babymoon, since it will be our last big vacation for a long time! So the next report will be on MomMom's birthday, June 25th. We are 8 weeks away from finding out the sex of this little Pistache.
Last night we spent the night at Lost Pines for our anniversary. We went last year too and are trying to make it an annual thing. It was wierd to think about if we are going to make it there next year with a 6 month old! Thanks to everyone who has been checking in, or asking about how I'm feeling or for the mother's day cards I got! Trey sent me some beautiful "pre-mother's day" flowers which made me cry, but then again most things do right now!

Just had our 2nd sonogram and everything looks great! The pictures are to the left. If you want to know what you're looking at, picture a Gummy Bear- with a big head and body, but tiny arms and legs. And then put it upside down. The head of the baby is at about the 7 position on a clock and the feet are at about 2 o'clock. The black moon shaped thing is my uterus and the light area in the concave curve of the moon is the placenta starting to grow. There is a very faint line at the top of the "moon." This is the umbilical cord attaching the baby to the placenta.
They are saying that we are measuring 1 day larger than our official due date but have solidified the date as December 3rd. So we are officially confined to Austin for the 2010 holiday season. We heard the heartbeat for the first time- last time we just saw the heart flicker. It's measuring really strong at 188bpm!
I'm feeling really good right now! Not much of a baby bump. Looks more like a full belly after a big meal! I put a rubberband around the button of my jeans yesterday to make them just a little more comfortable. We have our next appointment on May 21st, but next baby step is the mommy-mobile I'm getting in 2 weeks. We're trading in the car for a bigger SUV. Good for having a baby, and safer for these dark, country roads that have a ton of deer on them.
The Iobst and Latiolais grandparents have officially claimed their grandparent names. And Nana Benamoz will officially be referred to as Gigi from here on out!

We're pregnant!
On March 25th, 2010 I woke up in the wee hours of the morning to get ready for work. I must've been feeling lucky that day. I took a pregnancy test and the faintest + symbol I've ever seen showed up. I stared at it in various lights for about 5 minutes before deciding that it was really there. I woke Trey up from a dead sleep- it was 5:30am- and told him that I thought I was pregnant. His response? "Congratulations"- he clearly wasn't awake enough to realize that this would affect him too!
We had our first sonogram on April 9th and saw a little flicker of a heartbeat. It didn't look like much, but it did confirm that we were, in fact, expecting a baby and that it was growing perfectly. Tentatively, our due date is 12/2/10. The Dr. thought that the baby measured a little on the small side for this due date so we're going to re-measure in a few weeks to confirm the date.
Next appointment: April 30th. Will post the pictures we get.
So far, I'm feeling pretty good but I get abnormally tired really easily! Trey's been awesome about letting me nap as much as I can and putting up with my food aversions- nothing looks really good to me right now!
